Speaking to Prothom Alo on Sunday morning, SUST Registrar Syed Salim Mohammad Abdul Kadir confirmed the development.

“The previous deadline for admission applications was scheduled to end on 20 December. However, considering the overall situation and requests from stakeholders, the administration has decided to extend the time by five days. Students can now apply until 25 December,” the registrar stated.

A formal notification, signed by Ahmad Kabir Chowdhury, the president of the admission committee for the 2025-26 session, mentioned that the application portal will remain open until 11:59 PM on the extended date.

To avoid confusion, students are advised to note the following schedule carefully. The admission tests will take place in early 2026.

Seat Capacity: A Competitive Battle

Admission to SUST is highly competitive due to its reputation in science and technology education. For the 2025-26 session, the university has announced the following seat plan:

• Regular Seats: A total of 1,566 students will be admitted across various departments.
• Quota Seats (SMA): An additional 77 seats are reserved under the Societies Merit Allocation (SMA) quota.

• HSC/Equivalent: Passed in 2024 or 2025.

• SSC/Equivalent: Passed in 2022 or 2023.

• Note for Diploma Students: Diploma-in-Engineering students must have passed SSC in 2020 or 2021.

2. GPA Requirements by Unit:

• ‘A’ Unit (Science & Engineering):

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 individually in SSC and HSC.

  • The combined GPA (SSC + HSC) must be at least 6.50.

  • Crucial Subject Requirement: Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in Mathematics in their HSC exam (or Grade C for A-Level students).

• ‘B’ Unit (Humanities, Commerce & Science):

  • Applicants from Science, Humanities, or Business Studies can apply here.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 individually in SSC and HSC.

  • The combined GPA (SSC + HSC) must be at least 6.00.

3. GCE (O/A Level) Requirements:

• IGCSE (O Level): Passed at least 5 subjects with ‘B’ grades in at least 2 subjects.
• IAL (A Level): Passed at least 3 subjects with a ‘B’ grade in at least 1 subject.
